Player Expectations

Players are expected to ride the bus to and from away matches. This allows time to bond with teammates. Parents should pick up their child from the commons when the bus returns to Lindbergh.  Players must communicate with their coach at least 1 day prior if bus transportation will not be used, and their coach must approve the reason.

A dress code will be in effect for game days.  Athletes should wear khakis and Lindbergh Volleyball polos to school and on the bus for away matches.  Home games the athlete has a choice to wear jersey or away game apparel.  Failure to do so will result in loss of playing time.
Athletes should also wear their practice shirts for practices to avoid consequences.  NO OTHER TEAM apparel is allowed during practices or game days.
During both away and home matches, varsity is expected to help and cheer for FR & JV teams during their matches and visa versa.

You represent not only yourself, but your team, your school, and your community.  Do not make fun of or ridicule members of other teams (this includes excessive gestures).  Prove points through your play.

Do not argue with teammates.  Teams can only achieve together.  Positive results are a reflection of positive interactions between teammates.

No pouting!  It's a sign of immaturity and allows the opponent to take advantage.  Focus on the team goals and task at hand.

Coaches have personally selected you for this team.  They believe you are capable of performing skills and demonstrating tactics related to volleyball.  We realize you will make mistakes.  You must take criticism in a positive manner, so you can learn from your mistakes and grow as a player.  Every day make a positive contribution to your team.

Be a dependable player and good teammate.  Be early or, at the very least, on time for volleyball functions.  Being tardy may result in lost playing time or additional conditioning.  Continued absenteeism or unexcused absenteeism may result in dismissal from the team. High school sports take priority over activities not associated with Lindbergh (club, etc.) per athletic handbook.  1 excused absence is allowed without penalty.  The type of consequence for missing a practice or match will be up to the discretion of the coach.

Leave the place you enter as it was or better than you found it.  Clean up your messes regardless of who left it.

Players who are playing on the court are considered the best choices for our team.  You should always be prepared to enter a game and make a positive contribution.  Everyone has a role and shares in victories/defeats.  You  may not always agree with the coaches, but you are expected to respect their choices.
Questions or concerns about your role on the team? YOU, the player, should first meet with your COACH(es). Conversations about playing time need to happen 24 hours after a match.  It is considerate if you email your coach to set up an appropriate time to do so. If parents or administrators need to be contacted, that should happen AFTER a meeting with your coach.

You are a student-athlete which means you are a student first.  Playing volleyball is a privilege that you've earned by being responsible in the school setting.

Fines:  Students are expected to pay their school fines on time or accept consequences.  Uniforms must be turned in on time and in full, or the player will be financially responsible for the cost to replace it.

The athletic handbook can be used as a reference for specific issues or situations not addressed in this commitment.
